    Ira and Charlie presented "(Mostly) Free Internet Security," an overview of software and procedures for every computer owner required to prevent intrusion and theft by malicious software.

    Larry, Charlie and Ira presented 33 "Fabulous Freeware" titles available to members on the CD distributed at the meeting.

    Andy Gilbert, Computer and Technology buyer for PC Richard & Son, discussed some of the latest in computers and hi-tech gadgetry for the back-to-school crowd and the rest of us. As always, the information given by Andy, and the door prizes for members, were fantastic.

    Bryce Washington from Hauppauge Computer Works discussed their video hardware products including capture cards, PVRs, TV tuners, etc and their use in Windows, particularly Media Edition.

June 2nd, 2006, Meeting Report
    Bernie and Shep Gorman gave an information-packed presentation entitled "DVD’s for You and Me." They covered most aspects of DVD technology including DVD players, DVD recorders and DVD burners. They covered the steps of making DVDs, video production and (mostly) freeware to get the job done.

May 5th, 2006, Meeting Report
    Bill Cottgrieve discussed using computers and the Internet to trace family geneology. He gave information about a wide variety of free Web sites that contain very useful data and informaiton from historical records. Bill also demonstrated software used to accumulate information and create family trees.

    Dave Whittle returned to ICON and presented "Whittle's Picks for the Digital Home," demonstrating muvee autoProducer 5, PhotoVista Panorama 3.5 and Invisus PC Security Solution.

    Charlie Wagner discussed GPS (Global Positioning System), from handhelds to car installations to units built into your cell phone. He presented an historical perspective of locating oneself on the globe and covered theoretical aspects of GPS, what to look for when buying a unit and how GPS devices inerface with computers.

February 3rd, 2006, Meeting Report
    Laura Leita gave a great demonstration of GIMP - the FREE Open Source digital photo editing program. The Program's capabilities rival Photoshop, Phoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro and other commerical programs. Using examples of her own incredible work in GIMP, Laura Leita also showed the tools and capabilities for retouching even severely damaged photos.

January 6th, 2006, Meeting Report
    Randy Gilbert discussed ICON's Web-based resources for members. In particular, using ICON's members-only Yahoo Group was discussed at length , along with information about the ICON Web site.
